File size and image dimensions
Pixel dimensions are the image width and height. File size is the number of bytes stored. Two images with the same dimensions can have very different file sizes.
Why the bytes change
Image content, compression settings, color data, metadata and additional frames can all affect storage. A plain graphic and a detailed picture need not compress alike.
| Question | Look at |
|---|---|
| Will it fit the required shape? | Pixel width, height and aspect ratio |
| Will the upload accept its size? | File bytes and the service's limit |
| Will the print have enough pixels? | Dimensions after cropping and intended print size |
MB and MiB
One MB is 1,000,000 bytes. One MiB is 1,048,576 bytes. This site shows the unit beside the value and includes the exact byte count in the image information tool.
