WebP can store lossy or lossless images. It also supports transparency and animation. The extension alone does not tell you which features a particular file uses.
Choose an export mode
| You need | Export setting |
|---|---|
| A smaller photo file | Compare a lossy WebP export with your current file. |
| Unchanged pixel values | Use lossless export without resizing or changing colors. |
| Transparent graphic | Check edge transparency on both light and dark backgrounds. |
Check app support
Check that the editor, print shop or upload form accepts WebP. Browser support alone is not enough.
There is no single quality setting that fits every image. Compare the exported result at the size people will actually see it.
